LPN wages Kokomo?

Published

HI all, I live near Kokomo and was just accepted into the LPN school at Marion. :yeah: I'm trying to decide if I want to do this at my stage of life. (53). Nursing is something I've always wanted to do. Anyone out there from or around Kokomo? what are the starting wages for LPN's in the Kokomo/Indy area? Anyone know? I"m really interested in getting into a clinic that does surgery and getting trained in that area. But I realize I will probably have to start out in LTC to get more experience before I move around. Any info is greatly apprecaited! I"m trying to decide if I want to do this or if I want to go to the Clarion Surgical Tech Program that takes about the same amount of time, gets me into the surgical field alot quicker. Thanks!

Go for it!! I finished the LPN program from Marion in August. It is one of the best programs out there. You get so much more experience than any other LPN program in the state. I work in a LTC facility in Kokomo and have already advanced to Charge Nurse. I work w/ 2 RN's and 2 LPNs and I was chosen for the position due to my experience. Pay wages are decent at the LTC facilitities ranging from $15-$19/hr. The program is hard, but the instructors want to help u succed, i did it and i am a fulltime mom and wife w/ 2 young kids, we even had 2 ladies in their late 50's both worked full time jobs and they made it!! :yeah:

I don't live in your area, but I do have your dream job:D. I am 53 also, and a LPN. 15 years ago I trained to scrub in surgery in an in hospital program. The hospitals around here now only take scrubs from tech programs:o. I have only met 3 other LPNs that work in surgery. Others may work in out patient surgery centers, I don't know. If scrubing is the only life for you, the tech route may be best, but LPN has more options. Check with you area hospitals to see if they hire LPN's in surgery before you decide. Good Luck with the option you choose. BTW my sister(1yr older) just finished tech school and loves it:D
