LPN VS. BSN

Published

I have been lucky enough to get accepted into an LPN program, but I'm having second thoughts about whether I should go ahead with that program or just go for a BSN program since I ultimately want to be a labor and delivery nurse. I initially felt as though taking one step at a time, but now I'm not so sure has anyone else been through this that can offer any advice.

If you have the time, money & support get your BSN.

Especially since you want to be an L&D nurse, most hospitals want BSN prepared nurses.

I'm currently a LVN working on my ADN. My advice is if you are able to, go for the BSN. I did the LVN because the wait list for the Arab program here was just too long. I had every intention of doing the LVN-RN program right away but life got in the way. I've now been s LVN for 4 years. It's great experience and I don't regret it but if I had the choice I would've gone straight to BSN. By the time I finish my ADN and then BSN it will be 7 years since I graduated LVN school.

I got my LVN first & as with the PP said intended to get my RN right after. But I kept putting it off & now it seems I don't know when I'll be going back (personal reasons). But I hope to one day go back & get my BSN.

Just now realized my phone auto corrected for me. Should be RN program not Arab :)

LPN vs ADN vs BSN

I thank you guys for all of the advice. It seems I should just apply to a BSN program and see what happens.
