I went to OU and was able to sit for boards after my first year. It doesn't matter what your instructor says, it is what the requirements are from the BON to sit for your NCLEX-PN. See this link http://www.ok.gov/nursing/nclex7.pdf, it is specifically for those who wish to sit for the NCLEX PN based on "equivalency", and it states directly in this application in the link that "ONE YEAR OF AN ACCREDITED RN PROGRAM". The only difference is you have to apply for equivalency first and then apply to take the exam. I did it, totally worth it.

mommy.19. I wonder if you can give me more information reference challenging LPN exam in OK. I am currently looking into that prospect. I have completed one full year of RN school here in Texas, but failed 2 classes in my 2nd year of ADN program (passed clinicals) but am out of this particular program. :/ I was thinking about doing the LPN in OK, but one of the classes in my 2nd year here that I didn't pass was Peds and in researching OK guidance, there is indication this is required.? I'm also checking into other alternatives to get back in program to get my RN, but would like to at least get LPN now. Texas does not allow this option. I would only be employable at federal facilities with an out of state license. Any insight you could provide reference first year education in OK vs TX would be most appreciated. Thanks!

I believe you are correct and peds is req'd if you go by the info in the link in my previous post.

I would call a rep at the BON and speak with someone about this, it may be easier to sort out. You are welcome to PM me with other questions if you feel like I can help. To go forth with this PN equivalency do you have to be currently in College?I was in until recently and failed one class right before graduation and am out of that particular program.So I am hoping they do not require one to be currently attending the college.I am definitely going to try this if I am eligible.looking at the link I also saw the pharmacology is required,my school's pharmacology is integrated in the program,I hope they can accept that.

I know this post is from a few years ago but wanted to ask since your in tx, did you end up taking the exam in OK then transferred back to tx? Thanks
