LPN Student Fall 2014

I am going to be starting the LPN program this fall. I am so nervous! I just finished the 2 week fast track CNA program and took the state test all in 3 weeks! So Ive got that done for my Pre-Req..I plan on taking A&P 1 either the spring semester or summer semester, because thats the other pre-req for the program, and then of course the dreaded TEAS test!! thats what I am really nervous about!! I plan on completing the LPN program and working for a few years as an LPN then going on to be an RN, I would just do it straight through but unfortunately life doesn't allow me to do that. Any advice on TEAS test or LPN program from anyone would be greatly appreciated. I am nervous but so excited!!

Congrats. I took my TEAS back in December. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I would get the study materials from them directly though as I spend A LOT of time studying things I didn't need. I begin my LPN course in Sept.

I took the teas this past Saturday for entrance into the LPN program. It was fairly easy compared to what I thought it would be. Waiting to hear back for my scores. I download the mcgrawhill teas test practice for my kindle. It helped me prepare for it.

My school did not require a TEAS test but we do use ATI to help us prepare for the NCLEX. I am nearing the end of my first semester. I must say that I think being a CNA will be a big help for you! 95% of my classmates are CNA's and it seems as if they just breeze through the clinical skills! I am not a CNA, I have only worked in the medical field for the past 10 years. Good luck on nursing school and make sure you do lots of studying! I had a 4.0 when I got in and I am lucky to get a C on any test! Half of my nursing class has dropped due to bad test grades and being unable to manage the load of nursing school. It is a beautiful thing and I'm sure you will enjoy it. I enjoy every day of it and I can't wait to become a nurse:) I am also doing the LPN first and then bridging into the RN program. I talked to a nurse at one of our clinical sites and she said that the LPN's that go on to become RN's do SO much better in nursing school because they already know what to expect, they have already survived clinicals for the LPN program. The RN students that have never done clinicals have a hard time:( good luck on your goal of becoming a nurse!!!!! You will never regret it

Mrsnurse, do you think being a phlebotomist will help? I've worked at a clinic for 3 years.

You didn't have to take the TEAS before being accepted into the program?

I suggest taking it twice. I studied the parts I was weakest at first (math/science) and then reviewed the rest before reading over math & science again. The first time I tested, I made a 72...a good score according to staff and the past results of students. I knew I could do better so I studied over the printout they give you of areas to improve, along with page numbers to find it.

Two days later, I retested and improved my score by 12 points...94% nationally & 99% for my program.

Definitely do the practice tests at the back of the book too.

Tara0404 what's your tips on reading comprehension to finish on time? I have to complete 25 questions in 25 minutes. Also any tips for the math section; charts, and geometry word problems? I have to take the TABE test this friday. thanks
