LPN schools in NH

U.S.A. New Hampshire

Published

Hi everyone,

Shortly I will be relocating to NH with my kids to start a new life. I live in CT currently. I have my CNA certificate (I'm assuming that's what you guys call an LNA??) My first question is will I have to complete a whole other course in NH to get certified for CNA? I'm guessing yes.

Also I would like to know what school's there are that are fairly close to Franklyn or Concord where I will be considering moving to. I have no idea where to even begin to look for that info.

Any advice or recommedations will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Becky

Hello and welcome from a fellow NH resident! You should be able to get the info you're looking for from the NH BON- the website is http://www.state.nh.us/nursing/ and if you can't find your answers there, the phone number is on the site ;) I grew up in the Concord area, it's a very nice area to live, better public school system than Franklin (if that's a concern). FYI, the Franklin area has a "not so great" reputation as a place to live- if I were moving back to the area, I'd look at Concord, Bow (expensive), Chichester, even Penacook & Boscawen before settling in Franklin.

Nursing assitants are LNAs (Licensed Nursing Assistant) in this state also. NHTI in Concord has an excellent ADN program and started a Practical Nursing program a couple years ago. I don't know what other schools in NH offer LPN, again the BON can help you there. Hope that helps-

I transfered my MA CNA to NH in August 2005. It's a process that takes about a month but well worth it. Have you considered the Lebanon area? I work at DHMC and after 3 months of employment, they will pay for schooling. It is a great place to be an LNA. Here's a link to their site http://www.dhmc.org The jobs section is easy to use and gives rates of pay. The closest LPN program that I could find is at NHTC, but there's also an RN program at Colby-Sawyer in New London. I am so happy that I moved here and hope you enjoy NH as well!

Lots of info on the state of NH website.

I have to disagree with the above post about Franklin being not so good. It has had a tough past as it was a mill town and then the mills left and it has taken it a long time to get footing, which it has recently. Franklin has come a very long way and there are a lot worse places to live for sure!!

Ask any Concord Realtor- they will tell you Franklin is moving up in this world and many many folk are buying there instead of Concord.

There are beautiful homes in Frankin that are very affordable for the area compared to surrounding areas. The schools have come a long way and it still has the small town feeling.

I grew up in Concord and live in Laconia now and if I was working in Concord I would certainly be looking in Northfield, Franklin and other towns mentioned above.

Also not sure what part of CT you are coming from but bad up here is nothing compared to bad down in some areas there. I have lived in Bridgeport, Ansonia, Milford, and Waterbury and this part of NH (north of Manchester) is still really quaint and homey and small. There are no gangs and drugs everywhere.

The smaller towns do not offer as much as far as services and it is not uncommon to not have a movie theater. Laconia's public library just recently got rid of the paper card catalog, lol!
