Most county technical schools or as they are known, Vo-techs, offer PN programs. Go to the county that you live or intend to live in and check their website for porgrams offered. The private schools do not offer a better education, in my estimation.

I don't know what part of Florida you are in, but if you are near Tampa, Erwin Technical Center is a good school. They did have a long waiting list, but I believe they are now doing a lottery-type selection. A good friend of mine went there, and had NO problem finding a job upon graduation.
good luck...

I will finish July 29th at Sarasota County Technical Institute. From the very beginning, we were told our school is the top rated LPN program in the state of Florida, usually 95%-99% pass rate on NCLEX.
Clinicals start off at a LTC facility, then Doctor's Hospital, Venice Hospital, & completion @ Sarasota Memorial.
For August entry, I think you've missed the deadline, but there could be cancellations & the winter class would still be doable. However, be prepared to lose 1/2 of a class of 40 before the midpoint of the program. They are uncompromising on their tardy & absence policies regardless of accident or death! And tough on other issues as well.

Galen Health Institute In St. Petersburg. Its a 1 yr program they admit in Aug, Nov, Feb and May. You attend classes 5 days a week and it may be hard to work because of long school hrs and they also have a part time night class. I just graduated from there and I feel like I got a great education. Let me know if you have anymore questions about the school. :)

Annamarie,
How much was Galen? I submitted their "more information" form last week but haven't heard from them. How long did you have to wait to start? Thanks.

I graduate soon from the LPN program at Orlando Tech (In orlando of course, lol). Its one year full time and 1.5 years part time. Also the price is very reasonable (about 3000 including everything) and they have funding available for financial need based scholarships they base on your current income if u dont qualify for a pell grant.
This has been the most productive one year Ive ever spent in my life!

Kaiser College in St. Petersburg is starting a new LPN program and is taking applications for the wait list. Galen is in St. Pete but I heard it was expensive. P-Tech is in St. Pete and I don't know if they have a wait list. Erwin Tech is in Tampa but they just ended their application process. If you are going to pursue a degree in RN, you may want to check and see if the school you chose transfers credits. I am currently on the wait list for Erwin and I know they do. I hope this information helps.
