LPN school vs. BSN pre-reqs?

Published

I have read several threads asking if the OP should persue an RN or LPN. I am asking if I should enter an lpn program in January or continue to take pre-reqs for a BSN program. I am 22 y.o. & I'm starting to regret not going away to a university when I was younger. I also plan to ultimately become a CRNA, so eventually I'll get my bachelors, and then my masters - unless it's a doctorate program by then. I'm divorced w/ no children, so I'm my only responsibility. I was considering going the lpn route because i'd be able to work & make more money sooner to support myself. Because I'm unattatched, I'd b willing to travel to any BSN and/or CRNA program that accepts me in the future - if I'm still unattatched by then. I'd feel more comfortable traveling if I were an lpn, I'd make at least a little more money than I do as a cna currently. I'm torn because I think I might finish my bsn faster if I just keep doing pre-reqs instead of taking 1 yr off to do the lpn. I'm also anxious to have the "university experience" before I become too old to enjoy it. I need to make a decision soon. Whatever I decide, I'll start in January 2010. What do you think I should do based on. The information I provided? Help!

TIA : )

Before deciding, just remember that the lack of jobs is about ten times worse for LPN's than for RN's.
