HELP!

I'm new to this site and it's absolutely amazing. It's so refreshing to see so many people interested in this profession!

My question is:

I am living in the Miami area and I want to start the LPN program. There's two schools that I'm currently interested in.

1. Lindsey Hopkins School of Technical Education

2. Mercy Hospital: School of Practical Nursing.

I wanted to know, has anyone out there gone to either school? If so, how was your experience during and after the program?

I have gotten a brochure from both schools but I am getting mixed reviews on the Internet. I know Lindsey Hopkins program is 14 and a 1/2 months whereas Mercy's is 12 months.

Please let me know. Thank you. :specs:

I went to Robert Morgan which is a M-D County public school in the same school system as Lindsey Hopkins. We had a few people in our class who left Lindsey and transferred to RM. They HATED Lindsey for some reason. I initially planned on Lindsey, but the facility is in a shady neighborhood and right downtown so traffic was a problem for me. You can look up their board passing rates online and compare it to other schools (like Robert Morgan, MDC, Mercy, Keiser) for some insight. I have also only heard great things about Mercy, but they are difficult to get into. Waiting list and expensive! Either way, I think you've made some good choices! Consider Robert Morgan Educational Center (Ms. Washington's class if you can get in) and don't bother with the private schools like Keiser because they charge three times the tuiton for ending up at the same place. I paid almost nothing (South Florida Workforce and Pell Grants) and passed my boards with the minimum amount of questions.

Just finished my 90 probation at my new LPN job and I LOVE IT!

Good luck!

me.

im starting a lpn program myself but chose to go to school in broward preferably mc.fatter or sheridan tech.

as i read this thread my question was for berry happy how did you find aid from South Florida Workforce what did you do?

Thank you Berryhappy! I was actually thinking about Robert Morgan myself. A friend of mine graduated from the LPN program last year and she loves it.

I would consider going but I live in northern Miami so traveling to Robert Morgan will be about a 45 minute commute. I did not know Mercy had a waiting list. I do not mind paying extra for Mercy since I have heard their program is excellent. If you have any other suggestions, please advise me.

Again thanks for sharing :)

Hi I'm also considering joining the LPN program at Robert Morgan, but I hear they have a waiting list of 6 months to a year. For those who attended Robert Morgan, how long did you have to wait to get into the program?
