Hello, I'm at a lost and cannot rest over this! I was accepted into a RN program in the caribbean and a LVN program in Los angeles. I currently live in cental california. Tution at UVI (in the carribbean) is about 12,000.00, and it takes 2 years. tution at the lvn school is 16-20,000.00 and thats for 1 year. Rent etc is about the same at both places. I already finished all my RN prereqs so if I finish the lvn, I'm pretty much guaranteed to transfer into the rn program here at a city college and it's 7 more months. I don't know what to do!!! No matter what, it's expensive but I would save more money by moving to the carribean!!! I also refuse to wait around here and hope to get "lucky"with all the lotteries. But I can't stand the thought of being so far away from everyone I love. At least in la, I have 3 of my oldest friends there and it's only 3 hrs from my hometown. But if i save like 10 grand by going to the carribbean.... advice please??? Oh and both are accredited etc

I would get my RN and have a great adventure.
I'd write and e-mail my friends back home. Fellow students become friends.
And learn, network, and vent here at ALLNURSES.COM!
Of course you need to do what is right for you.

Los Angeles Trade Technical Community College and Pasadena Community College offer LVN training. The entire cost of the program is about $3500 thats books and everything else. Private schools are a rip off!

UVI isn't a private school. It is a public university. I think it looks like a great deal for someone who is a bit adventurous. My daughter toyed w/ it, but she is just 18 and wants to go away, but not that far. They have a great N-Clex pass rate!

hello,
I dont know if you are still an active member of this site anyomore, but I was just curious to know what you did. I am now in the same situation. However my lpn program is 1600 per semester and uvi is now 5000 per semester.
