:uhoh3: Hi, Im new here and I started the LPN Program at community college in Georgia, and now they are saying they are adding a RN Program nextfall, so who wouldn't want to make more money and the rewards of being respected in the nursing field as a RN, right? Well im not so sure which is better or why.
Everyone says RN's make more but I just want to be a nurse. I have to take Math 101, Anatomy & Phisiology 101, Nursing fundamentals course, and currently taking Med. Terminology, to be done by next Spring and in order to even be considered for the LPN Program you have to have a gpa of 3.8+(I currently hold a 3.6) But for the RN Program of course,I will have to take extra classes and it is a two year program where in the LPN Program I will graduate 2007. So I debating should i go with the LPN and work and gain experience while going to school part time so i can at least bring in some type of income to help husband out with bills. But i just dont know. Can Someone Help Please.

If you are in the school mode and you have both options available to you go for the RN, if you need a quick change in pay and want work experience then you could go for the LPN and the Later advance if thats what you want, I think we have to be careful using the terminology being respected in the nursing field, LPNs are to be respected along with CNAs Monitor Techs , yes I realize the difference, but we are all part of a team, dysfuctional as it can be sometimes and with one goal in mind good safe patient care. RNs deserve no more respect than LPNs Respect is titleless. GO FOR WHAT FEELS RIGHT>>>:)
