LPN-RN Route, How many medications will you be studying?

Would any LPN students let me know how many meds you study for the entire program,

I'm not a LPN student at the moment, however I was one about 2 years ago. There wasn't a certain amount of medication that was covered. It was more about classes of medications, with each class having varying amounts of specific drugs.

There are alot of meds covered, but like the above poster said it was more about the classes of drugs.

Antibiotic

Beta-Blocker

Ace inhibitors

Calcium channel blockers

MAIO

Tricyclics

SSRI

Insulins

Pain meds (all types) & their antidotes

* Narcotics

* ASA

* NSAIDS

* Tylenol

Antiseizure

Antipsychotic

IV solutions

Meds for constipation

meds for gerd

vitamins

the list just goes on and on.....

+ any drug that your clinical pt may be taking!

What do you mean classes of drug? There's a class for every drug? Sorry to sound so dumb but I dont know what you mean...:smackingf

if you are asking if there is a "class" for every drug as in you go to class and get a lecture on each and every drug..no, thats not what that means.

drugs fall into a certain class (or catagory to make it easier) some fall into several classes..some drugs are antibiotics, some are beta-blockers, some are diuretics, etc. each drug falls into a certain class/catagory. those drugs in a certain class all tend to do the same/similar thing, have the same/similar effects on the body, have the same/similar side effects.

some drugs are in a certain class but can also be used for things that other drugs in other classes do..

for example, acetaminophen belongs to a class of drugs called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers). acetaminipen is more commonly known by its brand name..tylenol.

notice that tylenol falls into the analgesic and antipyretic classs.
