LPN to RN preparing for NCLEX-RN

Published

I have been an LPN for over 10 years with experience in LTC, GI, Peds and urology. I recently graduated from an LPN to RN bridge program, with an advertised NCLEX pass rate of 90%. I earned mostly A's and 1 B (pharm). Considering my knowledge base from being an LPN for so long, and after doing so well in school, I felt really confident about my NCLEX.

I scheduled my NCLEX for the soonest available slot. I attemped a few online free practice exams and I am not "passing" them. Many have questions about content, I don't recall being covered in my LPN or RN program.

Part if me thinks maybe I'm not ready for the NCLEX and part of me thinks these free online tests are designed to not pass so you will pay for thier test prep,, ALL the sites with free exams also offer paid content.

I was hoping to hear feedback from people who have been there.

Your school didn't do any kind of prep testing or predictor testing at the end of the program? I'm a little surprised if they didn't and have a pass rate > 90%. If you did do some testing prior to graduation/finishing the program, how did you do on that?

We did HESI tests at the end of each course and the Exit exam at the end of the program. I met the benchmark for the exit exam >1000.

We also did an in person, 3 day test prep with someone from Elsiver, not school faculty, a few week before graduation.

Yes most programs have predictor exams that is similar to the NCLEX. If you done well on those you will do well on the. NCLEX. Those practice exams out there especially ATI will make you feel like you learned nothing but it honestly helps build you in your knowledge and provide great rationales.

which school did you attend?

I passed first try!
