LPN to RN online in Virginia

Published

I am currently working as an LPN in Virginia. I'm trying to get my RN license and would like to do so online. I'm interested in excelsior, but when I went through the admission section, I saw something stating you can't be licensed by examination and may have to get a provisional license. What does that mean? Also, does anyone know if you get licensed in DC how long it would take to change the license over to Virginia? Please help? Anyone have experience with online school in Virginia?

Please call the VABON before you attempt to do a online program to get your RN. Virginia has stop letting nurses sit for the exam in the state from the school you mentioned. The same for companies such as RUE, Challancellors and College Network that sell nursing material to prep you for exams. Call VABON for the most current updates and also visit the website. But there are plenty of programs for BSN, MSN and beyond that are online for nurse that are RN's already who can enroll into. I wish you the best. But please check around because just like anything else nursing school is a business. I wish you the very best. I'm an RN and MSN-Nursing informatics student.

Virginia allows EC grad RNs to apply for licensure by endorsement once they have 960 hours of RN practice time in another state. EC grads RNs cannot apply for licensure by examination. There is info here: State Board Requirements - excelsior.edu
