Lpn to Rn online

Anyone do lpn to rn online just curious about you experience?

I did six years ago. It was a terrific experience for me. The college has made quite a few changes since then, but if I had it to do over again, I wouldn't change a thing.

I don't know of any that are *strictly* online, however, there are many that are hybrids. I'm currently in a hybrid LPN - RN program.

There are no lectures. You are responsible for learning the material on your own, well enough to go in and pass the exams with at least a 77%. There are also a lot of discussion boards, patient reviews, case studies, and papers you have to write along with learning all of the theory.

Then, you have cliniclas to work into that schedule, which, for my program, involves going to the hospital the day before to get all of your patient info, then spending the rest of the night before cliniclas writing a paper, doing med cards, and creating care plans. Plus, lab days that you have to go in for, check off days, and going in for tests. My program also has a HESI at the end of every class that you must also pass with a 77%.

Its TOUGH. We've lost like 50% of the people that started with us. In order for it to work, you have to have the time to dedicate to it all and the motivation to stay on track since there's nobody there pushing you.

I have done my bachelors online, and it was a CAKE WALK compared to doing a nursing program online.

My my intention is not to scare you, but give you a small insight to what is actually involved. It's not like a normal online college program.

Its possible, and it's worth it. Just make sure you have the time and dedication.

I have one one more semester to go, and it's so tough that I'm constantly on edge not sure if I'm going to make it.

Make sure to research the programs you are interested in before signing up. Look at their pass rates, etc.

Good luck!

Except for the clinical examination at the very end of the program, Excelsior College's LPN-RN program is 100% online. But this program is only for the highly-motivated.
