LPN to RN in Alberta

I am a fairly new graduate, but thinking about the future. I would eventually like to complete a BScN and become an RN. Any suggestions on education routes that don't require me to start at the beginning again? Are there any bridging programs available in the Edmonton area? Thanks for your help!:)

I think this topic may have been discussed in allnurses, have you tried looking for threads using the search tool? You will see threads like this https://allnurses.com/canadian-nurses/lpn-bsn-program-204305-page3.html

I was more interested in something with some class time, as opposed to something strictly correspondence. Does a program like this exist?

I was also wondering if there are any programs available that don't require the 1000hrs first, something I could start working on now?

In a nutshell, nope. The classroom setting bridge programme ended about a year ago, same time as the degree only entry became mandatory.

The required 1000 hours is a sore point for many in Alberta. LPNs required 1700 hours to be able to access the bridge. Quite insulting when you consider the "accelerated" BScN students don't have that requirement, only a university degree, no nursing experience at all. Trust me it shows.

The only thing you could look into is starting the electives at MacEwan. Some of their classes are offered in the evenings.

Thanks for the info! I think I will look into doing some pre-reqs at MacEwan
