LPN pay rate?

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Hi everyone, I'm going to school to be an LPN and I was wondering what pay rates are here in PA or specifically in Philadelphia. Also, is there a pay increase if you have additional certifications such as dula?

I cannot quote Philly start rates, but around the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area the starting rate for new LPN's in the hospitals is between $11.00 and $14.00 depending on shift and floor specialty. A friend of mine who just graduated started at $12.75 on a med-surg ortho floor day shift. Good self-marketing and shopping around will allow you to have options. Good Luck. JR

In my area, Westmoreland county, the county home is currently paying $19.45/hr for new hires. The hospitals aren't even hiring LPNs any more. The ones who have been there forever are still working there but excela health system and conemaugh health system are not hiring lpns. The VA in aspinwall (near Pgh) will pay up to $18 an hour but it all depends on your experience and what you currently make in your job. A new grad will start at the bottom of the pay scale which is more like $12 per hour. in the regular skilled facilities (nursing homes) you can expect to make around $14-15 per hour. But that's just westmoreland county. I think yiou would make a few dollars more in allegheny county (where Pittsburgh is).
