Hi everyone, I'm going to school to be an LPN and I was wondering what pay rates are here in PA or specifically in Philadelphia. Also, is there a pay increase if you have additional certifications such as dula?

I would like to say thanks for letting me know about the program since you were a student there. I just want to let you know I didn;t make any assumptions about Prism, if you see from other threads I posted I was looking for anyone who had a little info about this program. Considering other programs I looked into were almost half the cost of Prism and considering there was only one graduating class from Phila I was a little weary about signing up for something no one could give me any personal feedback on.

It's very pricey. $22,000. I also believe it doesn't include other expenses like books, uniform, graduation and things like that.

I'm looking at different schools to attend for the LPN program. After speeking with the one school I will be taking an ATI exam next week for the admissions rep doesn't know what the NCLEX pass rate is for her school. She told me to ask someone in the nursing department after I take the test. Doesn't this seem odd? It is a for-profit technical school, so I'm a little weary. They are approved by the state board of nursing tho. I'm confussed!

Thank you so much for your honesty. I had an idea that technical schools were in it for the money which is why I'm so hesitant. I just want to make sure I'll be able to get my LPN license and my credits will actually be tranferrable when I persue my RN degree. Again thanks for your advice.

I'm trying to get a feel for how Prism Career Institute in NE Phila's program/school is and any inside advice would be helpful. Thanks!

Has anyone heard of Prism Career Institute's PN program? They say they're approved by the PA State Board of Nursing since Novemeber 2006, but when I go to the website nothing comes up about Prism. Anyone know why?...... Also, they say they make no representations or gaurantee's regarding a student's ability to obtain a license or employment. Do all schools say this?? Are they just covering their back's for rare cases that a student can't get their license?

Hey everyone, Hopefully I'll be starting a LPN program this Spring, and I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of how school was for you. I have all the pre-req's done that you would need for an RN program (ex: anatomy & phys, pharm., microbiology, english 101, 102, and a whole bunch more. I also completed a clinical rotation at a LTC facility). I'm just wondering if the program will be a bit easier for me since I have a general idea of things. Also, do LPN's administer med's on a regualr basis like RN's or is only when they really need to you?

Hi everyone, I've been looking into different LPN programs in my area and I would like to get your opinions on this one school I went to. It's the closest one to my house ( 5 minutes away), but it's the most expensive $ 22, 000. The other schools are all at least 30 minutes or more away, but are around $ 11,000 to $ 18,000. The one closest to me is a FOR-PROFIT school so I don't know if I'm being robbed. I don't mind paying all that money (for the convience of being close) as long as I know if they have a good program, but how can I tell? Does anyone have any thoughts about the price they're charging and how I can tell if it's a good program?

Hi, i was wondering if anyone was put in advanced placement in an LPN program? I attended a RN school for a year, so I have all my pre-req's done and Nursing 101 done. I had to drop out for personal reason's. Now I plan on attending a LPN school. I want to transfer a few of my credits like anatomy & phys and pharmacology. DOes anyone know what they might make me do or if i'll have to take a test or will they just accept my credits w/o me having to do anything ???

I was wondering if anyone who use to be an LPN went back to school for their RN degree online?? If so, can you tell me a little about your experience, was it hard, how long did it take and if you graduated how is working as a RN now (since you didn't originally go to an RN school)??

Does anyone know if this is a good LPN program?? Or has anyone actually taken the LPN program here?? If not where did you take your LPN classes at??? Thanks for any help in advance !!

I'm interested in going back to school for LPN, but when I try to find schools in or around the Philadelphia area I keep getting the same answers. Every once in a while I'll come across a new school, so I know some of the sites aren't showing EVERY LPN school. Does anyone know of any??? Please let me know...thanks...
