Well, I passed the Lehigh Valley Hospital Physician's Group medication test and injection practicum and I have had 2 interviews already and I still do not know the pay rate. Does anyone know if it goes by experience (I have 16 yrs.) I have never worked in a doctors office so I have no idea what the pay rate would be. Anybody have any idea what an LPN in Hamburg, PA (affiliated with LVHPG) would make an hour??

Hello,
I worked for LVPG for about a year and a half as an LPN. I started at $18.00p/hour. I got a raise of 3% which is basically the yearly raise. I was being promoted to clinical coordinator and was going to be making about 44,000 salary. I did not stick around for more than one reason. It also depends what office you are going to work for. The money was not worth some of the aggrevation. The benefits are also great unless that has changed since. No paying for insurance and about 140 hours a year vacation. Hope this helps!!! I will be glad to help you out if you want to know more.
PS. That med test pretty easy wasn't it? You will get the same one on a yearly basis
Also thought working in a MD office would be less stress than long term care.....learned pretty quick it is just as stressful if not more! I am only a LPN for four years. I have gone back to the stress of LTC and do not regret it.
OMG, thank you so much for your reply!! I had my first interview with the clinical coordinator and another gentlemen and then they gave me the name of Noreen to have a 2nd interview and to take the medication test and injection practicum which I passed and she told me I would hear from the clinical coordinator within a week. I haven't heard from her but did hear from Noreen that she has been out sick. When you have the 2nd interview and take the tests, does that pretty much mean you got the job?? Also, the job is at the Hamburg Health Center and is part-time. I still have not been told a pay rate and everyone has been telling me that they will only pay me about $12-$14/hr which is worrying me. I have been an LPN for 16 years. Where did you work, in the Lehigh Valley area?? Also, how long ago was it that you worked there? Do you think that all LPN's start at a certain rate or does it go by experience??
I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR REPLYING!!! I completely appreciate your input. I will not be hearing from the office until early next week now.
By the way, I have done LTC pretty much my entire career and now that I am 25 days short of my "39"th birthday, I do not want to work weekends or holidays anymore. I have worked every weekend probably about 10 years of my nursing career and that is why I am looking to just work part-time 20 hrs/wk. Also, I am looking for good health insurance with only working part-time and LVH offers that, so that is why I am looking into a office job. Also, the position is a triage phone nurse.
I am glad that I could help you!! I worked in the Bethlehem Area but I live about an hour and a half away from there and i worked from 8-5:30 Mon-Thursday. Friday I worked until 12 (depending on when the patients were done). But when I started there I was only a nurse for 1 1/2 years and that is what I started @ $18 p/hour. I am not familiar with the Hamburg practice so I unfortunatly can't tell you how it is there. I did go for 2 interviews and a med test originally at a different practice -Health Springs. They called me a week later to tell me that I did not get the job. (Don't mean to be a bummer). Than a few days later I got a call from the practice I worked at and went for the interview and got the job. It truely is not as easy as I thought it was going to be. I did go back to LTC and was lucky enough to find a job that in LTC that is M-F with no holidays.
The benefits are a definite bonus at LVPG. Please let me know if there is anything more. It all depends on the practice you work at. I worked with one other medical assistant who was probably 1/3 of the reason why I left.
Let me know how it goes!! Good luck to you
Oh gosh...that stinks. I thought 2 interviews and a med test was a good thing. So if I don't get this job, if there is another one that comes up in a LVPG, I can apply for that and not have to re-take the med test or go through that 2nd interview with Noreen? Once again, thank you for all your input, you seem to be the only one on this message board that has worked there.
By the way, they did 2 reference checks too. Is that normal and to STILL not have a chance at getting the job??
Well, I just found out last night that I got the job!!! Only problem is, they don't have a pay rate for me yet. The clinical coordinator said they are working on that and she will let me know on Wednesday. Let's hope it is a good one!!
I am sorry that I have not responded sooner. I have been busy all week!! I am glad that you got the job....congrats!! I am sure it will work out for you. I think it just all depends on the office and how everyone works together!!! Let me know how it goes and if you have any thing I can help you with/advice for the MD office i will help you. Best of luck to you!!
Thank you for everything! I found out my payrate and it is not what I had hoped for but I really think it is because of the location. It is in Hamburg right near Cabela's. I start at $16.75/hr and the last time I got paid that was my very first nursing job in 1993. I keep telling myself that I do not have to work weekends or holidays and it has great health insurance I can buy for the family,. I am excited to start but my orientation is on July 20th for LVH and LVHPG orientation is on July 27th. Was there any other orientation that you know of?? What can I expect after those one day orientations?
