Does anyone have any idea of what it is? I have an interview at one 45 minutes away tomorrow and am trying to determine if it is worth my time. A friend who is an LPN in a skilled nursing home in Chattanooga says he has heard its considerably less than a nursing home. He makes $18 but I really do not want to work in a skilled nursing home.

I interviewed at one about 2 years ago. I was offered $16.50/hr for night shift.
Edited to add. ..the location was Knoxville
In my interview I was told the pay would be a mere $14/hr. The schedule is 8a-6p four days per week. No benefits but they pay time and a half if you work a holiday.
I think I'd keep looking.

I'd say about $14 or $15 is about average starting pay although I've been at the same job for a long time so, I may be out of the loop on pay. I work at a group home (east tn area) and I'd say that would probably be starting pay at my job too.

SoCal currently pays VNs about $13/HR for ALFs. Worse- the 'caregivers' that pass the meds and provide direct care make about $9/HR, and they don't have to have any state credentials (licenses or certificates). Makes you wonder why the old folks pay $4000/month (and up to about $5500) to stay in those places, when they could have a live-in private aide/CNA or even LVN, and stay at home for the rest of their lives, for less, and have a better quality of life.
