I wanted to start a thread to address this topic because every so often there are posts that seem to insinuate that it is a shock to a new grad to learn that most employment opportunities for LPNs are in LTC. There are definitely Doctor's offices, corrections, psych and school nurse positions and even a few hospital jobs depending on where you live but the majority are LTC. I'm not writing this to discourage anyone from being a LPN because I loved it but just think that realistic expectations will avoid disappointments later on.

Thanks for the Thread Jules A ! I've already prepared my self emotionally for when I graduate as a LPN this July. I know that many ignorant people won't even aknowledge I'm a nurse, even though I won't be a RN. I also know that I will, most likely have to work LTC at first or atleast until I build up my experience. I definetly have plans to continue my education to pursue my RN degree, however being a LPN will also mean alot to me and I will be very, very proud to be one ! But thanks again :)
