Hi, wanting to become a Nurse, but won't complete perquisites in time by deadline next February. I wouldn't be able to apply unless look out of state for another year for nursing. Applications for state LPN programs are being accepted by end of May so can scramble get a packet out. The class starts end of August. It is a 20 month program so I be a LVN in two year's.
Appreciate the feedback.
I would finish the prereqs, then go into an Associate's program. 20 months is a long time for a LPN program. At my school, they are 12 mos. And at a community college. In the end if you want your BSN, going to get your LPN is going to cost you more money in the long run. Have some patience.
i am in the same boat, i actually was in my fourth semester of nursing and fail the last class and now i have to reapply elsewhere and is going to take me a year or so to reapply and get accepted so i decided to do the LPN at Stone academy. i have heard good and bad things about it, however that just how everything is, you hear good and bad. Just do what is going to make you happy, if you want to wait ! wait then, but if you cant wait like me, then go for the LPN i know plenty of LPN's that are working making great money and took their time before they went back to school to get their RN

I was thrown off by that title as well. LPNs are entry level nurses. As an RN you will have more options opened to you in the job market, but LPNs are nurses and are hired in some hospitals as well as nursing homes, etc. I have taken most of my pre-reqs towards the RN degree, but where I live there is a huge wait to get into the program, so I went the LPN route, then plan to get my RN degree immediately after. If there is a few year wait, as my school had, then maybe consider the LPN - especially if you need to start making money immediately, like I do. If you are living home, not must expenses, it would be worth waiting for the RN in my opinion, but that's just my opinion. Hope all goes well :)
