which route should I go?

My plan is to one day become a nurse practitioner. I'm planning on starting out as an lvn and work for about a year or 2 and go back to school. My question is should I get my adn first and then get my bsn or go straight for the bsn.

I know here after you get your LPN and work a year then you go on the fast track and get your RN and I think for ADN it's a year and BSN is probably two years. Unless you want to go on and get your RN so you can get a pay raise and be able to do more stuff ...then maybe get ADN first. It all depends on your situation. It may be something you have decide once you start working. Maybe you figure out a specialty that needs a BSN and want to get it right away.

I haven't looked too far in it except getting ADN after I get my LPN (Last semester! Yay.). I'm not sure if I will get a BSN unless it's super necessary or during my career I find a speciality I really want to work in and require a BSN. Seriously I'm just so sick school right now...I wouldn't have survive I started off as pursuing a RN lol

Have you considered applying to both and seeing what happens? A lot of decisions on nursing school are based on preferences, timelines, goals, financial situation, and family situation.

You should also consider the ADN vs BSN factor, not just LVN vs ADN. Depending where you live in Texas, this could drastically impact your options after school.
