Too soon to apply for jobs?

Hey everyone! I graduate the LPN program on December 9th and was wondering if I should start sending out my resume and start applying for jobs now? The hospital where I live takes a while to get things going with the application process and I don't want to miss starting work after I graduate.

You live in the hospital? I think it depends on where you live. I know in New York you can work under an RN's license if you submit a permit. But you have like 3 months or something to take and pass the NCLEX. I honestly waited to worry about working. Yeah, I wanted a job ASAP as my current job wasn't treating me right, but I also wanted to make sure that no matter what I did well on the NCLEX.

Where do you live? Some places will hire you before you take your boards. I started applying before I took my boards, and some places offered me a position with them. Dependent on my boards, was whether I would get a pay raise or not. I'd say go for it.

I say apply now. I graduated and passed NCLEX within a months time and it took two months to get hired. Try to get as many interviews as possible and have a nice resume and cover letter. Nice references from your instructors also help. Dress nicely too if you are going out to personally hand out resumes, that helped me to get quite a few interviews so it goes a long way.
