Need help! I have been accepted to two diffrent Lpn programs - one is in illinois and is accredited by National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. NLNAC and aapproved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation/Board of Nursing and the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB). This programs clinicals are at the same nursing home the entire program. 34 credit hours. Total cost of this program is 9000.00. The program in texas is only accredited by the Texas board of Nursing, The Texas Board of Nursing (BON) and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) approve the Vocational Nursing curriculum. This program has clinicals in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics , in many diffrent settings. This program is a total of 42 credit hours. Total cost is 6100.00 Need to make a decision asap like by the end of the day! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would go with the cheaper program, even though it lacks NLNAC accreditation.

The vast majority of LPN/LVN programs are not NLNAC-accredited. This is because NLNAC accreditation is not as significant for LPN/LVN programs as it is for RN programs. For example, the state of California has no LVN programs that are NLNAC-accredited. Texas only has three NLNAC-accredited LVN programs.

In addition, you can still continue your education and earn an RN license later on down the line if you wish, even though you may have attended an LPN/LVN program that lacked the NLNAC accreditation.

Good luck with your decision-making!

Thank you for your quick response! I was very confused on which one to go pick because of the accredaitation. I want to go on to get my BSN, so I just wanted to make sure. Thanks Again!
