this is really a dumb question but i have to ask . is it normal for a male patient who has a foley catheter and have uti to have a hematuria and have a pain in the scrotum? what does uti have to do with scrotum? the first thought that came to my mind was that maybe the balloon was inflated into the scrotum area or maybe his prostate was enlarged or something. when i assessed the patient, his scrotum was enlarged and slightly red and his testicles are also enlarged.

very often a uti in a male pt includes the entire reproductive tract. he could also be suffering with orchitis, epididymitis or prostatitis as well as the bladder and urethra. (hope i spelled all those right, i don't see that everyday!)
