Can't decide which job to choose?? Help!!

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hi,

I'm an LVN and just got two employment offers and I can't decide which one to take. One is to work at an Eye Clinic for a LA County Hospital and the other one is to work as an LVN for LA County Department of Corrections.

Can someone help me decide?? BTW, I have a 1 y/o daughter and my wife also works fulltime. So not sure which job will fit our family schedule. thanks

I'm assuming the position at the eye clinic is office hours during the week day shift and no weekends or holidays? Where as the correctional department is not as structural in the schedule and you would have to work holidays? If I'm thinking correctly you'll make more money at the correctional facility than in the office. The office position will allow you to spend time with your family, and is probably safer. But you're going to get more nursing experience at the correctional facility. All in all it just depends on what you want to do with your career. I've been an internal medicine floor nurse at a residence clinic and just accepted a telephone triage position at a heart and vascular office, I enjoy the office setting more than any other position I've held as a nurse, it really works well with my family schedule, and I don't have to miss holidays. Also there a family atmosphere in clinic settings. I'm assuming you've already picked a position due to the date of your post. Hoping everything is working well!
