  1. I just accepted a telephone triage position for a heart and vascular office. Any advice?!
  2. I have a desire to become an RN but right now it's just not going to happen, and that's OK. I am happy working in an office m-Friday 8am-5pm triaging patients over the phone. I have no desire to work holidays and weekends at this season of my life. To each his own.
  3. Absolutely, I send thank you after each interview!
  4. I'm assuming the position at the eye clinic is office hours during the week day shift and no weekends or holidays? Where as the correctional department is not as structural in the schedule and you would have to work holidays? If I'm thinking correctly you'll make more money at the correctional facility than in the office. The office position will allow you to spend time with your family, and is probably safer. But you're going to get more nursing experience at the correctional facility. All in all it just depends on what you want to do with your career. I've been an internal medicine floor nurse at a residence clinic and just accepted a telephone triage position at a heart and vascular office, I enjoy the office setting more than any other position I've held as a nurse, it really works well with my family schedule, and I don't have to miss holidays. Also there a family atmosphere in clinic settings. I'm assuming you've already picked a position due to the date of your post. Hoping everything is working well!
  5. I've been a hospice nurse for two years now. I love it. There is nothing else I would rather do. I am an on call nurse (LPN) on the weekends I start Friday at 5p until Sunday at 8p. I do routine in home or facility visits. Pain assessment visit. Assess the need for crisis care. I staff crisis care, administer medication, phone triage etc.
  6. Hi all, I have been an LPN for a year. I have been working as a Hospice nurse for that time, working with Hospice I am PRN and have every other weekend on call duties. The PRN allows me to attend school but doesn't allow for a steady pay check in which I need as I have 4 children. I have completed my first term in the ADN program, failing 2 classes and re taking them. I also took a break this summer and am scheduled to go back in the fall. Yesterday I was offered a Job working for The Little Clinic inside Kroger. It is good pay and benefits, but I would work every other weekend and 3 12 hour shifts a week. Therefore I would be working every weekend (I would not be quitting Hospice) and I may not be able to attend church on Sunday's. So here's my question, should I not accept this job and stay in school, or should I accept this job?
  7. I PASSED!!! I was accepted into the spring PN semester :) My first class is April 8th I'm so excited =0) I passed with an overall 82.5% !!!!
  8. AAAAHHH I just want to scream!!! my test is in 12.5 hours and I'm trying to keep calm and focused and study, but of course my daughters science fair project is due tomorrow and guess who hasn't even started it Yep, if you guessed my daughter then you'd be correct! she has had since December to plan and get it finished... ugh Kids! if that's not bad enough I took practice test from the back of my study guide, and failed the math, vocab and grammar section... Im starting to second guess if I should even go take this darn thing... Oh well rant over, thank you and have a nice day!
  9. Thanks for the insight :) is there a order to the test taking? IYO which would be best to do first?
  10. Hey Free_2b_me, I have been a can/direct care aide for many years and eventually because a supervisor, and left my job to have my youngest daughter and starting nursing school as well! Basically you'll need to talk to an admissions counselor at the school(s) of your choice, then you'll apply and take most of the time you'll have to take an admissions assessment exam, there are a few different ones the most common is the Hesi A2 and the TEAS... I'm currently in the process of applying and taking my hesi tomorrow (wish me luck) :/ its so nerve wrecking! some school's you will need pre-req's usually (med. math, med term, A&P, cpr, stna, first aide, etc..) but this is totally up to the school, for example the school I am trying to get into doesn't require any pre-reqs, while one right down the street does! Good luck!
  11. I am 26, and I have 4 daughters ages 10, 5, 4, 6months and I'm starting the application process, I'm taking an entrance exam on Friday (so Nervous!!!) I know that there's going to be struggles and sacrifice's that will be made from not only myself but my family, but this is my calling! I was truly meant to be a nurse. I'm so scared that I'll fail or wont get accepted I actually get sick to my stomach and cry at times.. I am taking my entrance exam on Friday (tomorrow) even though I'm scared, and nervous I also know that If I don't just take that leap of faith I'll always wonder and regret never having the strength or courage to even try to get into a nursing program... It's never to late to fulfill your dream! With God all things are possible!
  12. Thanks Kdrenee! I have heard a mix of reviews saying it was pretty easy and basic but then I run across some horror story's that freak me out lol, 101 people can say it's easy peasy but then there's 1 that has taken it over and over and failed and how it's so hard and I automatically think that its the hardest thing in the world to pass and I sike myself out... was there any decimal to fractions, percent's, metric to English conversions, and roman numerals? I did take all the sample questions from the study guide and created a practice test using all the problems to see what area's I need work in, overall I got a 82% not bad, but I couldn't remember for the life of me how to turn a decimal into a fraction ( until I went and looked at it in the book, and wanted to hit myself in the forehead "Dork"!!!) lol I took the vocab test on quizlet of 107 words and got a 85% so I'm hoping that my nerves will calm down and I wont get to crazy nervous! :) Thanks in advance :)
  13. Thanks @ lalacb123!
  14. Hey Ya'll the spring semester is fast approaching and I'm so excited and nervous to try to get into the LPN class... I have to take the dreaded Hesi exam and I'm freaking out a bit, I've been studying from the evolve hesi admission assessment study guide 2nd addition and using quizlet for my vocab. I have to take 4 sections (vocab, reading comp, Math, grammar) and I have 3 hrs to take the test in... I'm not particularly good at math, so I'm pretty shaken up about taking it, I've been studying my hind end off. I have until Feb. 22nd to take the test for admission into the April class.. Does anyone have any advice, suggestions, good practice test website?
  15. Thank you!
