Where at in south fl are you? over towards Ft Myers/Naples there seems to be a freeze on everything, our area (Highlands county) isn't much better but if I knew where you were I might be able to point you in a direction

I live in the Miami-Dade/Broward area and all hear is about a freeze also or experience. I know that I am a new LPN but I need to start somewhere. I need a job badly. :banghead:

are even your LTC facilities froze? ours aren't even hiring, it seems not as many snowbirds came back this year :( it may not be where you want to spend you career but it's a start, good luck!

I'm not sure where all you have looked, but have you checked the Flyer or the newspaper classifieds? There are also a bunch of online employment sites. I don't think I can post them here, but I can always PM some to you.

Take a look at some of the job listings from them and just apply everywhere, whether they are hiring or not. A lot of jobs will post that they require a certain amount of experience, but you'd be surprised how many will give you a chance even without all that they are asking for.

Two years ago, I was hired for an LPN case management position that asked for 3 years of experience. I had none, but they hired me anyway. I ended up hating it and quit. :chuckle But the point is, they gave me a chance.

All of us have to start somewhere and employers know that. It's not always about experience. Sometimes the way you fill out your application, the things you include in your resume, and how you present yourself during interviews, can be the deciding factor on whether or not they give you a chance.

Don't give up or have second thoughts about nursing. You WILL find something! :wink2:

Have you considered using an agency? Even if it's not a long term plan, maybe you can make some money while you look for permanent employment.

Hello mc30:

Have you tried hospice or home health agencies???? I'm a new grad RN. I had previous experience as an LPN. I just got an offer for hospice. I wish you the best!!!

I'm looking to move to Orlando. I'm an LPN with 14 yrs experience. Does anyone have any good ideas on where to look for a job??? All I've seen are postings for Rns!

Specializes in Home Care.

I think many jobs for LPNs (and probably RNs) are never posted. Its a matter of knowing someone or pounding the pavement and applying in person everywhere.

I got my job through networking in a college class. We have a few positions where I work that are open or about to open and probably won't be advertised.

I am not in the Orlando area.

Itsmejuli, is that position in a nursing home or hospital. I am moving pretty soon to florida south and i have been looking for a job but no luck. I am an RN with no hospital expirence and it's so hard to get a job in hosp.
