Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

i am an lpn with 15yrs clinical experience. i precepted nre rn's,iv certified, chemo certified, bls & acls certs. i relocated to north carolina from florida & seldom do i see jobs posted for lpns. do the hospitals even employ lpns? what jobs are out here for us? :uhoh21:

Specializes in Peds(PICU, NICU float), PDN, ICU.

What area of NC are you in? I've had trouble myself but I'm slowly learning who hires in my area.

Edit (addition to post): The hospitals seem to be phasing out LPN's again (like they did in the 70's) but there are a few in NC that still hire them. To me, its to their advantage to hire LPN's...but its their loss if they don't! Home Health, LTC (yuck), dr. offices, the VA hospital, and a handful of hospitals hire here. The excuse I hear is RN's have to sign behind us. I don't see the problem because if you are a good LPN the RN doesn't have to worry and if someone isn't good enough for the hospital environment they should be let go. If you feel better PM'ing me about your location I can PM you on the ones I know of that hire LPN's.

thanks so much. i live in matthews & would like to possibly work with an infusion company. i think my hospital days are over. just the thought possibly having a 20yr old rn looking over my shoulder & wondering whether or not i know what i' m doing, makes me cringe. ltc (ugh),home health (ugh) i have so much experience in various units, but i know i would never get to use my skills in a new hospital, in an new state, where i am totally unknown. :banghead:
