  1. Radiology school vs. LPN school...I would personally take Rad. School. Dependiing on the state you live, LPN's either have a load of responsibility in the hospital or they literally get enema duty in other parts of the US. I have been an LPN for 18yrs with extensive knowledge, past responsibility & much hands on. I precepted RNs,new grads both RN & LPN for years. I am now living in North Carolina & cannot find a job. The large hospitals don't even hire LPN's. Their role here is very insignificant. Best of luck to you!
  2. the duties really vary from state to state and often from one hospital to another. you are so young, why not reconsider and go right for your rn. the schooling is a little longer, but so worth it in the end. i promise you will not regret it! i have been an lpn for 21yrs. i returned to school for my rn & 3mos. before i was to begin clinicals i suffered a back injury. bottom line........ i never completed my education, have not been able to return to work. if i had my rn i would have many more options available to me at this time since i can no longer work in a hospital. go for it!!!!
  3. Meds (prn & scheduled) Throw in an occasional code & put your other patients on hold until you are able to resume your duties. Then you will only be behind another hour or two for the rest of the shift. Maybe an inservice taking up another 10 or 15min of valuable time. Take 15min. to choke down a meal. :smackingf
  4. princenina.....thank you for your response. i have begun to get the "pharamogological" help that i finally relented to. i knew that i needed intervention, but i tried to help myself rather than seek out "a little pill" to aid in my therapy. i am now giving into the fact that i also need the help of a therapist, which i am in the process of finding. i realize that i may have to go down another avenue when it comes to employment......but, do i want to? right now....no! do i think i could ever work the floors again.....no! there has to be a happy medium.....i just have not yet found it. thanks again for your mental boost......code 50 :trout:
  5. I DID NOT POST THIS THREAD! PLEASE RESPOND TO THE APPROPRIATE NURSE. tHANK YOU.
  6. thanks so much for your quote. i know i am not the only nurse ever injured in the battle fields of a hospital, but when you know in your heart how dedicated you were & skillful & that you really did make a difference in the lives of your patients, it is very difficult to go down another avenue. i have since moved to another state, which makes it even more difficult to pursue another route without having to "prove myself". at 57yrs (young) i would find it very difficult to have to "sell myself" to perhaps a 30yr old nurse coordinator. i will find something i'm sure......hopefully it will be satisfying. thanks again!
  7. you did exactly what you should have done. what did we learn in nursing school? document, document, document! you have to cover yourself.....let the imature doc have his temper tantrum, but you have a license to protect. did the doc literally have "xray vision"? you did the right thing! relax!:balloons:
  8. i was told by my local pd that the main dept. is in downtown charlotte where they will do computer fingerprinting. sorry, i don't have an address.
  9. thanks so much. i live in matthews & would like to possibly work with an infusion company. i think my hospital days are over. just the thought possibly having a 20yr old rn looking over my shoulder & wondering whether or not i know what i' m doing, makes me cringe. ltc (ugh),home health (ugh) i have so much experience in various units, but i know i would never get to use my skills in a new hospital, in an new state, where i am totally unknown.
  10. i am an lpn with 15yrs clinical experience. i precepted nre rn's,iv certified, chemo certified, bls & acls certs. i relocated to north carolina from florida & seldom do i see jobs posted for lpns. do the hospitals even employ lpns? what jobs are out here for us? :uhoh21:
  11. When we were working 8's I don't believe I ever left work on time. 12's are exhausting, but at least there are only 3 of them in a week. I couldn't imagine working a 5 day/40hr week. I picked up much more OT working 12s rather than 8s.
  12. thanks so much for your reply. as a matter of fact, the deputy tried 3 times & then called the lieutenant in. he was able to get more defined prints, but advised me that if they were not acceptable by "the board" i will probably have to go downtown (charlotte) and have them redone on a computer. the lieutenant also said that they are very "picky" since 911.....understandably so, but i would really like to rap this up as it is taking several months so far. thanks again.
  13. Thanks so much for your reply! Recently my fingerprints were returned to me once again because of "indistinct margins". So, once again they are being sent out to the board .
  14. I moved from Fl. to NC & appllied for reciprocity here several months ago. Filled out the necessary forms, sent the money, got fingerprinted...believe it or not because the police officer put br for eye color instead of bro (brown) the board returned the fingerprint card for correction. I sent it back with another $38.00 approximately one month ago & still have not received my license. How long does it generally take? This is frustrating & a bit aggravating to say the least. Thanks all! :angryfire
  15. i suffered a back injury 5yrs ago & two surgeries later i am still unable to return to work. i hope to return in teh future at least part-time, however i think to go into a hospice would destroy me mentally. i am so depressed since i know i can no longer perform the duties as i did in the past.....a hospice????? no way! i don't know what the future holds & i don't even know if i would be accepted by a physician or medical facility since i have been out of work for this length of time. any suggestions would help. thanks......bummed out & bored in nc
