LPN not doing her job

Published

I work in assisted living and am a CNA. My resident was in pain hurting, mind you the LPN has not come on my floor yet to pass medications and it was the ending of my shift and the resident's bedtime. It was 11 pm and from 3 pm they have not got their evening medications. I called her down saying I need a nurse cause my resident is bent over in pain and is not very vocal. She comes down I tell her the resident is in pain she was like okay Ill get her something. I wait and go check on other residents well another RA is with the one in pain. Well the LPN sent down another RA to tell me not to call her unless it's an emergency! My resident is in pain! I try to tell her that she hasn't even done her rounds down my hall but she would not listen. So I'm like okay whatever, I told the LPN about that pain so it's on her head if anything happened now. Should I report her for the unprofessionalism she showed me and my resident

Unfortunately, you will work with people who don't take their jobs as seriously as you take yours. Did she ever end up giving your patient his/hers medications? I would talk with her in private before reporting her.

I did clinicals in a LTC facility. The incompetence is rampant, from CNA's all the way up. Seems like the system is broken in these types of settings.
