lpn job opporunities in chattanooga tn

Published

I'm going to be graduating in three months from Chattanooga State Lpn program and I was wondering what was the job outlook from lpns in this area from former lpns that live in Chattanooga? Any replies will be appreciated:)

I am in Chattanooga! Just joined allnurses. I have never lacked for work... When I have wanted it. Of course there are nursing homes, which in my opinion are only good if you have a HUGE heart, can handle lots of stress, have loads of patience, as well as a strong personality.

There are a couple group homes. I worked at one here for 11 months. A little less fast paced.

The hospitals, but I don't think they hire LPNs anymore, at least memorial didnt. Not sure about Erlanger.

dr offices hire mostly MAs, but there are occasionally LPN positions around. Chattanooga allergy does I believe.

home health is great, lower stress, but you usually don't get as much experience as in a hospital or nursing home so maybe not ideal when first out of school unless you want to learn gradually. Steady work though. You have to be the CNA and LPN (total care), get along well with the family, and feel comfortable working by yourself in the home. I am currently working for Maxim.

It depends on how well you think you will like nursing, what you're interested in, and how well you handle stress. Do you want to get a lot of experience in everything, or do you want to specialize?

theres also a dialysis clinic, and the methadone clinic, but I wouldn't recommend the later.

i went to chatt state too!

Thanks for the reply@ButterflyBreath:) My clinicals confirmed for me that nursing was for me, and I don't have a specific specialty I'm dead on having but I know from visiting Moc Bend that didn't have the personality for that specialty lol. But I loved caring for the elderly and our Peds rotation in the clinics. Would you know which nursing home or assisted living facilities has a good rep in the area. And you mentioned that you have worked in a group home before I didn't know they used LPNs in that area if you don't mind which group homes hire us? Thanks in advance:)
