  1. Hi everyone I'm a fairly new lpn been in Alf for 5 months now but I'm thinking about putting in my two weeks notice. About a month ago we grew short of help when 2 second shift nurses quit back to back. Management handled it quickly by hiring 2 new nurses that were suppose to start immediately. Fast forward to now both nurses didn't show up and now me along with my fellow co worker were forced to work two weeks straight without any days off. My RSD along with the ED went on vacation and hasn't even thought about getting us any help. They suggested for me to work by myself first shift passing meds to 80+ residents, handling orders, supervising cna s, and trouble shooting emergencies. So that I can allow my co-worker a day off and she work by herself so I can have a day off. Is this legal in Alf also they continue to add residents even though we are short staffed. I need my job but I can't continue on under these conditions Am I overreacting or is this normal?
  2. Same here that's the worst part of my first nursing job right my boss will not defend me or my fellow co-workers for nothing against abusive pts or family members still looking for other options it's always good to have back up.
  3. Thanks for the reply@ButterflyBreath:) My clinicals confirmed for me that nursing was for me, and I don't have a specific specialty I'm dead on having but I know from visiting Moc Bend that didn't have the personality for that specialty lol. But I loved caring for the elderly and our Peds rotation in the clinics. Would you know which nursing home or assisted living facilities has a good rep in the area. And you mentioned that you have worked in a group home before I didn't know they used LPNs in that area if you don't mind which group homes hire us? Thanks in advance:)
  4. I'm going to be graduating in three months from Chattanooga State Lpn program and I was wondering what was the job outlook from lpns in this area from former lpns that live in Chattanooga? Any replies will be appreciated:)
  5. I start the Chatt State Jan 16th 2014 so excited yet nervous!!:)
