Hi im new here my name is jami and I really want to be a lpn! Can someone tell me how hard the lpn intrance exam is and give me some ideas on what I need to study. Also im going for a interview to get in a lpn school can you give me some advice on what to do to impress them so I can get in? Thanks to everyone in advance!

The one we had to take asked which response was best in each situation. It said that you may not agree with any answers, but still pick the best one. It was really easy. I didn't have to take the math or anything because you can exempt that part at my college if you score high enough on the college entrance tests.

ours was basic math & reading comprehension. decimals, fractions, reading big long paragraphs & picking out the overall meaning of it.

you shouldn't have to impress anyone. just be yourself.

Call the school you are interested in and ask them which entrance test they give. From there you will know a lot better what you need to study. I had studied for one type of test and found out the school had given another type. Luckily it turned out to be the NET which was a bit easier then the one I studied for.

yes, definitely get in touch with your prospective school(s) and ask them what test they require you to take. most book stores will have study guides like the net or hobet (which was the one i took).

anyhow, as for the interview, be confident and honest about why you are choosing to get into the nursing profession. i know this might seem obvious, but try not to mention "money/pay" or security (that's just pushing it). remember calm, cool, & collective-also eye contact, sitting up straight & try not to fidget!

good luck! :yeah:

i'm just curious on your opinion on that. i feel like i aced my interview since i got smiles from the ladies interviewing me and they told me that was a good response and that was my answer to that question. i told them in a failing economy, i wanted a job that i know that there is a future in. it pays better than a lot of the jobs in the area and i know there is a demand for them in our area. that was my answer anyway, and the people interviewing me liked it. so i'm not exactly sure why you feel that answer should be avoided.

yes, your answer is very much professional and valid. but i've heard horror stories, where students would say.. "oh umm they get paid a lot, so that's why i want to do it." half ass answers is what i meant by that.

We took the PAX entrance exam and I thought it was very difficult. It was a math/science/language test and in every testing only 2-3 people passed it. They had to give it over and over again just to fill the seats. I did really well on it though, with a 99 (80 was the min to get in). I bought the PAX study guide, and for 3 weeks proceeded to learn it inside out, back and forth, upside down, etc. I knew it so well that I got every single one right when I self quizzed.

After seeing other responses, I felt that I should add that I took the last part of the NET, I believe. They called it an aptitude test.
