LPN - should I go to RN school or change careers

Published

Hello,

I have recently been fired from a LPN job in LTC where I worked for 4 years. I am really considering changing careers. I have been a LPN since 2006 and lost 4 jobs out of the 6 I was employed. I keep going back and forth on should I go to RN school or change careers altogether. I really enjoy being a nurse.:nurse: I just dont like the drama and politics. Feeling really down.

It depends on why you were terminated.

What were your reasons of being let go 4 out of 6 positions?

Welcome to Allnurses.com!

I say this with the utmost respect for you and your career as a nurse: some serious introspection is needed before you make any career moves right now. Be honest with yourself, figure out why your employment keeps getting terminated, and then work to change that before deciding what to do next.

If you earn the RN license without unearthing the reasons why you continually get fired, the same thing will inevitably happen as an RN. And if you change careers and leave nursing altogether, the same thing will happen. Some introspection and self-reflection is needed before you make any moves. Good luck!

Most is my attitude and depression. The last job was going to give me FMLA but call me back the next day saying the cooperate office was against there policy and they let me go. I have been off for a month, and denied my unemployment. i am appealing my unemployment. I have two kids and my husband brings in the bacon. I am going to therapy I really enjoy being a nurse. I have been doing alot of self reflection. Thanks Commuter
