LPN Frustrated looking for an LPN to RN Bridge program

Hi I'm new to allnurses.com and I think this is a great forum for all nurses and aspiring nurses on all levels. Which is why I need some input from my wonderful colleagues out there. I have been an LPN for about a year, got my experience working the floor in a local nursing home and loved it. When it came time to search for a LPN-RN Bridge program I found it more frustrating to look for this kind of program than looking for any other kind of nursing program. Before I became an LPN I finished the majority of my pre-reques at a community college with the exception of microbiology. Is there any community colleges out there in the suburbs or city colleges of Chicago that do not recognize boundary lines besides Oakton Community College? My local community college (College of DuPage) does not offer a bridge program yet unfortunately. I'm kinda feeling hopeless and wonder if I could ever get into a ADN program. I know there are a lot of LPN's in Illinois that have been in this situation. I would really appreciate any feedback about the possible options I have. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that a few of the city colleges have LPN to RN bridge program. Truman, Kennedy King and Wright all have bridge, I believe. Some others may as well.

My local community college (College of DuPage) does not offer a bridge program yet unfortunately. .
Huh? I'm sure COD offers a bridge program for LPN's. I think they start the 2nd year of the nursing program with the rest of the students.

LPN to ADN Bridge

The College of DuPage Practical Nursing (PN) program also serves as a career bridge program for students who plan to make the transition from Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to Registered Nurse (RN). In essence, the one-year PN Bridge program "fills the gap" between the CNA and Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) programs at College of DuPage, creating a smooth transition for students who choose to continue their education.

Students can move from LPN to RN by completing a specialized "bridge" course, which allows licensed PN graduates (who have completed the required ADN prerequisites) to apply for acceptance into the second year of the ADN program. Graduates of the ADN program are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN examination for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
