Lpn from FL to SD

Nurses General Nursing

Hi everyone,

Im new on here so I hope I dont make any silly mistakes. Anyhoo...I am an LPN in Florida but have just moved up to South Dakota. I am filling out the applications to get my license switched over, but Im having trouble figuring out what/if any fees I need to pay FL BON for processing a paper or two for me and if I need to go through the Nursys thing.

Anyone go through the same thing that knows ?

Thanks !

Welcome, hope you find this site to be as helpful as I have over the years. :)

A phone call to your BON (perhaps both in your case) should give you the answers you need. I have had success getting a real live human being when I called my BON with a question.

From Florida to South Dakota, this time of year..... you are brave.

Good luck to you!

I have just moved from SD to TX. As far as the Nursys thing goes, you can go on the Nursys website and it will tell you which states participate. SD does, you will have to check Florida. Other than that, SD will charge you some fees but if Florida is a compact state, there should be no test to take (unlike me in TX). If you have any questions, just call the BON in SD. They are way easy to talk to and you actually get a real live person relatively easily.

By the way, where did you move to in SD?

By the way, SD does not require CEUs yet. You do, however, have to have a statement from a previous employer with proof that you have worked in the capacity of your role for 40 hours within the past 2 years. (I think.)

Thank you so much everyone :)

Looks like Im going to have to suck it up, call and ask.

I hope I dont have to retest...omg, I didnt sleep for 3 days after the NCLEX. Seriously !

Anyhoo, we moved to the Black hills area and right now, they are quite white....Its freezing ! Well except we

are in the 40's today and sad to say its feels quite warm :)

Thanks again you guys
