LPN certificate not a diploma?

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Hi all!

I'm just looking for some advice from others who have already been down this road.

I am applying to a LPN Certificate program costing 25,000k and requires a exit exam before graduation?! Does anything think that price is too high for only a certifate not a diploma program? Or is that an average. price? I'm thinking 50,000k by the time I receive my ADN and upto 75,000 by the time I achieve my BSN seems like a lot?!! Would I be better off doing adn RN to BSN to save money? Maybe since I'm doing it in one year sections is why it's adding up to so much? What did everyone else do? Advice please!!

That is too much for a degree program at a community college. Most of those programs allow the student to opt for a certificate when completing the nursing requirements if they do not want to take the rest of the general ed and other required courses to get an associate's degree. Have also seen vocational ed (Regional Occupational Center) courses that only cost $2000. Excellent reputation, more than reasonable cost.

Thanks for your response! Time is an issue for me and I've been waitlisted by RN adn programs until next year l. I could begin (Jan 2017 start) and graduate as an LPN by the time I would be starting RN adn (takes 2 years) school. So looking at it in that aspect I suppose convenience has a price? I just don't want to be in crazy debt while still having more schooling to complete. I will look into any vocational ed programs around me. Thanks again!

First choice: community college program (you can get a degree, inexpensive, some of the college courses will transfer or can be applied to the next degree). Second choice: regional occupational center (adult vocational education). This option has very low cost and the programs are usually well-regarded.

The for-profit, one on every street corner, proprietary courses are a big ripoff ($25,000 is just too much). These schools have a tendency to be fly by the seat of their pants, poor quality, and may not be open long enough for you to finish your program.

I would have waited another 12 months you could have worked and saved some money up to pay while in school. It's worth waiting you will be in debt forever and you are just starting out! To get a adn at my community college it's 9,000 you are paying 25K for a lpn certificate. #WOW #NEVER

My college's lpn program is 7,000 and that is the cheapest school near me. I would look elsewhere unless that is the school you like. Good luck!
