Are there any LPN/LVNs that are in or have completed the ONLINE LPN to BSN program through Indiana State University? If so, I would appreciate your feedback and opinions on it. Is it hard getting accepted? What are the class grades based on? How are the exams? What is the work load like? What's the process for getting an approved clinical site and is it difficult doing so?

It use to be not very competitive but now it's hard to get in. I did the program from 2013 to 2016 and have worked in Florida and NC since graduating. Great program and support from the ISU faculty and staff during the program but beware that you have to arrange your own clinical which is a very tedious task especially if you don't work in the hospital setting already.
You have exams, papers, care plans, and clinical's depending on the course. Exams are applied questions and knowledge-based either from the book or the lecture notes or from both. Appointments can be made by emailing the course instructor if you want to have 1-1 chat via phone.
Workload is huge and if you have a fulltime job or have family responsibilities don't take more than 2 courses at a time. They offer courses in Fall, Spring/Winter and Summer terms.
Any site is good depending on the course you are taking.
Health assessment: A doctor/Np office is ok
Med Surg/Critical Care courses: Must be a hospital
Community course: A school/college/public health/LTC facility
Mental: A mental health agency or hospital etc.
The hardest part is finding a clinical site who is willing to help you. It's not impossible but certainly time consuming and hard. Hope that helps.
What is the grading system like and how is everything weighted? Are the exams timed and how many questions are they typically?

Its a typical 4.0 grading scale

Timed yes, proctored yes but only the final exams. Quiz, midterm and final have different %age associated with it. I think somewhere 25 to 70 questions depending on the %age assigned by the instructor.

I have just secured a place in the LPN to BSN online program! I appreciated reading Deanna's response.
Thurmberg, have you applied? Is anybody else starting the program this fall? Or anyone currently in it? I am in Oregon, and would love to reach out and make connections.

I sent my transcripts and am waiting for them to evaluate everything to see what I might need still as far as prereqs.
Well Thurmberg, that is the first step! My experience is that they accepted almost everything. I had to complete another upper level writing class and another upper level class though, but I felt it was good experience to take a couple classes there to see if I liked the school. Anyways, good luck! Maybe I will have books to sell to you soon ?
Thanks! I do have some questions if you don't mind. How is the grade generally compiled? Like exams, assignments, etc percentages (like exam 80%, assignments 20%). Also, how many questions are they generally and how much time do you get for them?
I don’t start the nursing program until fall term, so I have no idea actually.
Oh okay. Good luck!!
