Thank you for your interest in Indiana State University's distance programs. The LPN to BSN program is a bachelor degree-completion program via distance learning .

Please visit the College of Nursing web site at http://www.indstate.edu/site/nurs/891.html for further information about the LPN to BSN program.

ISU has an exclusive contract with The College Network so as to provide the study guides for the initial phase of the program. There are three phases to the LPN-BSN Track.

Phase I are Gen Ed requirements that will need to be completed with The College Network or a local college in your area. When acquiring Gen Ed requirements, 50 credit hours need to be at a 300 or 400 level course. Some of these courses are available at ISU. If you have a previous degree, some or all of the credits may transfer into the College of Nursing. After completing Phase I you then apply to ISU http://www.indstate.edu/join_us/admissions.htm. You will then fill out a second application with the College of Nursing http://www.indstate.edu/site/nurs/pdfs/con-admission-application.doc

Enrollment requirements include: (due by Nov 1st for Spring Semester) (due by June 1st for Fall Semester)

These entrance copies will be kept in your file at the College of Nursing/Student Affairs Office, 749 Chestnut St., Room 328, Terre Haute, IN 47809. All nursing courses are completed online. Even though the courses are online and self-paced, they are within the traditional Fall and Spring semesters and taught by on-campus faculty members.

Then clinicals will be done in the state where you reside, with a preceptor at a local facility. This link is the FAQ (frequently asked questions) for the delivery of clinical education for the LPN-BS Distance Education Track: http://www.indstate.edu/site/nurs/pdfs/faq-lpn-bs-clinical.pdf

Ladyinscrubs, how much longer do you have for the program and what semester are you in? How long does Phase III take to complete? I really want to go through this program, but doesn't want to go for additional 3 yrs to complete my BSN. What are the sequence of courses?

how much longer do you have for the program and what semester are you in?

i am half way through the program.

how long does phase iii take to complete? go to the isu lpn to isu nursinng website and look at the information. everyone matriculates differently depending on whether they have additional gen ed classes that must be taken for the degree as well as nursing classes. of course, there is the difference between the calif and non-california program. non-ca program matriculates faster, if they wish.

i really want to go through this program, but doesn't want to go for additional 3 yrs to complete my bsn. this program is a bsn degree from a university. it is not an adn 2-year degree from a community college. if you went to the adn program you could get through the program faster or you could go to a bridge adn program which is faster yet. you can get do your adn to bsn in the future after get your license.

what are the sequence of courses go to lpn to bsn nursing website and look at the classes. to start off you will take the transition course, next the assessment course, then there is the mental health clinical and didactic class. after that it is med surg and a research class. i am fuzzy about what comes next but there will be anohter med surg class & a leadership class. i believe the last two classes is a med surg class and finally the capstone class. go to the website and look at the information it offers.

When looking at web site it doesn't break courses down by semesters. I will be taking TEAS exam and challenge exams next week. I am so excited about this program.

i will be taking teas exam and challenge exams next week.

am i understanding you correctly, you are taking the teas and all the challenge exams in one week?

Teas Friday, first 2 nurs exams mon &tues, 3rd &4th thurs &fri or sat. I have been studying for these tests for the last 4 yrs and have become serious about the program. Tired of wasting time and money.

Good luck and let us know how you did. It is probably too late to apply for Spring 2012 semester but you certainly would be ready for Fall 2012.

Hi everyone! Well I have a quick question. I Just got admitted to ISU and need to start studying for the 4 Nursing Challenge Exam and I Need to buy the Customized Study Materials (CSMs). I currently have ATI books from my LPN program and Saunders for LPN and RN..I am wondering where can I buty the CSMs books cheaper instead of buying them thru TCN or the college network? Please help, I am not sure how important are this books and if there is anything else that I can use instead. Thank you so much

A little about myself I'm an LVN with a BHS "Human Services" recent graduate, I challenged the LVN boards while obtaining my BHS degree which was icing on the cake. Yet, I have not been able to find a full time job as an LVN, I currently work as a CNA and it's very frustrating having all this education working at such a low level. So I've decided to go and get my RN BSN on line. I still need to complete some prereq requirements for the program. I signed up for information from TCN on line that night at work -before I read the blogs here,-The moment I got in the door from work that morning the phone was ringing off the hook. It was one on the reps from TCN calling me to sign up as quickly as possible because they had a great deal for me and time was of course running out. I told them that I was just thinking about it for now and would get back to them. I'm so glad I went to Allnurses that night and read up on everything. Now I believe I will at least make better informed choices as I navigate my online nuring degree. If anyone has any questions about TCN or Indiana States online nursing program I suggest that you read the blogs here completely, they are loaded with great information! Remember Haste sometimes makes waste!!

there have been many posts about whether to buy the tcn study guides or not. here is what i know (as a isu lvn to bsn student). you do not need the study guides. when you pay the 1/2 of the class charge for the first challenge test, the school will give you a study guide. it consists of objectives that must be covered. i went through those objectives, looked up the answers and used that info to study by. i also bought the lippicott get a's in _____ (name the subject). again, you do not need to buy the expensive study guides. i would buy the book the school is using, i think the school might provide the page #'s for the objectives...but then again they may not.

when you pass the first test, you pay the 2nd half of the fee. go onward with the next class, pay the first half of the fee and you get the isu sanctioned study guide with objectives.

save your money.

Thank you LadyinScrubs! You are very helpful. I just got admitted to ISU and got all my credits transferred..I need to start studying for the 4 challenge exams and Pathophysiology which I am scared of. I am not currently working since I just got my LPN license! I almost got screwed up with the college network and then I could not sleep thinking about if I made the right decision. Then I realized that I rushed myself and so before 2 days passed I faxed them my cancellation form and mail it too. I am so glad I read carefully all the forms I signed because the College network advisor do not tell you everything..On what phase are you now and how has it been so far? I would love to hear about your experience since I am eager and nervous about going online for the BSN program.

The school policy recently changed about paying 1/2 of the fee for challenge exams. You have to pay the fee in full before taking the exam. Nurs 106 $142. Nurs 224 $355. Nurs 328 & 330 $284. So you would have to pay &142.00 before taking Nurs 106. I was told this by C.L. in testing center at ISU.
