lpn in alberta getting a job in ontario

Published

hi everyone im thinking about taking the lpn course in alberta (where i currently live)but will be moving to ontario in approx a year i was wondering if anyone could answer my question...would i be better off to wait and take the rpn course when i get to ontario or take the lpn course here in alberta? im not sure what the differences are and what is accepted in ontario,if anyone could explain this to me i would greatly appreicated.

thank you maggi

I think you need to check with Bow Valley or Norquest. I was under the impression that effective Sept. 2005 the course was going to become two academic years, like a traditional college type course. When I trained in Alberta, the four semesters were done back to back and completed in 13 months.

Having said that some of my classmates did their final placement in Ontario and wrote the exam there and had no difficulties.

Best thing you can do is make that phone call to whichever school you were planning on attending. Also there was a waitlist last time I heard, so are you on the list?

Good luck.

I agree. Call the College of Nurses of Ontario & find out what they say. Get what you can in writing.
