Loyola University (New Orleans) BSN-DNP Program - May 2017

Hi! Is there anyone applying to this program for the May 2017 start date? Or is there anyone currently in this program? I'm finishing up my letter of intent for the program and was wondering if there was anyone else looking into this program! :)

You're very welcome! And oh, wow! Minnesota is definitely far from the Gulf Coast area! I was actually wondering the same thing about the hotels. I already put my request in to be off for the week of the orientation so I wanted to do some research about the area and nearby hotels.

When is orientation and how many days?

Orientation is the week of March 26th-April 1st but apparently we are assigned which two days we must be there. I don't know which two days yet but one of the counselors was able to tell me the week so I could at least request off from work.

Hi guys!

I just submitted my application to start in May of 2017 as well!!! The wait is so nerve-racking.

I am in Michigan, so not really that close to Louisiana either.

@RN1001 how long did it take you to find out that you were accepted? Or I guess, how long did it take for them to contact you for an interview as well?

Hopefully I am contacted soon for an interview. How long after the interview were you notified about acceptance?

My interview was on August 31st and I received my acceptance letter via e-mail on September 15th, so not long after the interview at all.

Are you guys planning on doing the 3 or 4 yeR plan? I'm doing the 4 year plan as I am working full-time.

Assuming I get in, I'm planning on starting out full time, because when I talked to the advisor, she said that you can always drop down to part-time later, if needed. I also am planning on working full time though, so I will just have to play it by ear and see how the first semester goes!

I plan on going the four year route. During my undergraduate studies I worked 40 hours per week. The program was accelerated. I felt rushed and lacked some major sleep. This time around I want to place the focus on school and get more out of the education. The four year route will be better for work/school/life balance I believe.

That's great, you guys! Btw, I created a Facebook page (Loyola University New Orleans - BSN to DNP 2017) if you guys have Facebook and would like to join. Might be a little more user friendly to communicate! There is another page on there for Loyola's BSN-DNP that looks like it was started by previous students but no one has accepted my request to join. lol.
