Hi all,
I'm in the process of applying to ACNP programs. I've recently become aware of an ACNP program at Loyola University Chicago (LUC). I also found out their medical center is a level I truama center. Their facility is about 100 miles away from me but I was told their program is about 60% online and they organize your clinical experience. I was also told one can focus on critical care/trauma in their program. I currently work in a CV/ICU within a level II truama center and I love caring for trauma pts. My career goal is to be an ACNP in the ICU of a level I trauama center.
I haven't been able to locate many recent posts about their program. I see they're rated #50 by US News and World Report for graduate nursing schools. Does anybody have any experience with their ACNP program? Does the program have a strong clinical focus? How well did the program prepare you for advanced practice in the ACNP role?
I've noted the program is on the expensive side. How long did it take you to complete the program? Do they offer financial aid besides loans? If you did take out loans, were the payments overly burdensome upon graduation?
I know I've asked a lot of questions. Thanks in advance for the help!!

I know it's been a while since you posted this....but I'm curious if you got in and started this program :) I just got accepted for Loyola's Emergency/Family NP Program for January.....and would LOVE your input on their program if you're currently attending :)

Hey AZ_RN_BSN,
I am very interested in Loyola's Emergency/Family NP Program mostly because I have lived in Chicago and currently reside in AZ working as a Emergency Department Nurse. How do you like the program so far? Any suggestions on how I should proceed? I have a lot of questions so if you have time I would like to talk about the program. Good Luck!
