Loyola ABSN Fall 2013

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Just starting a thread for applicants to Loyola's Accelerated BSN program this fall. I applied in January but have been waiting for my last recommendation letter to be submitted for a few weeks, which will hopefully be done by the end of this week. I am wondering how quickly responses are sent out once they review your complete application and I'm also curious to know how they decide who to admit since it's rolling admissions- they can't really compare an entire applicant pool at once this way.

I'm from Chicago. I am finishing up my Bachelor's in Kinesiology at UIC in May. What about you?

Oh thats convenient. You already live in the area. I'm from CA, currently living in San Diego right now. So I have a pretty big move to make haha.

Did you apply for financial aid? If you did, have they sent you your award yet?

I have applied. I haven't received my financial aid award yet though. Have you?

Nope. The letter said it would come soon so I'm waiting. On the LOCUS sight under "VIEW FINANCIAL AID AWARD" I can click on 2013-2014 aid year but nothing comes up so it must not be finished yet. Did you decide to go to Loyola for sure?

yep! I got into NYU this week but its way to expensive. The only prereq class I didn't have was a HISTORY class lol. I asked if any of my other classes would count and they said no. So unfortunately I am still taking this class. So after I send in my transcripts is when I will be officially admitted I guess. But Loyola seems like an amazing school. Have you ever been there? I'm from CA so the weather is going to take some getting used to but other than that the school and what is has to offer sounds great.

Did you decide for sure?

Yeah I'm going to Loyola. I have been to the downtown campus but not to where the nursing school is in Maywood. Are you going to live in Maywood?

Awesome! I have emailed with a couple current students from the FB page that suggest not living in Maywood. They have suggested to live in Oak Park area. I looked it up and it has a great reputation and is about 10 min from campus. I am trying to live there for a bit. Apparently, at a certain point in the program we only have to be on campus 2 days a week so eventually I would like to live in the city. At least, thats what I'm thinking now haha. What about you?

I actually live in Buffalo Grove so I am going to commute. Oak Park is nice though and it will be very convenient for you. I wish I could live closer but I have been commuting to the city for 4 years now so I am used to it.

Well that's good you are used to commuting and you are already all set to go. I have a veryyyyy long drive ahead of me. Have you gotten any registration info yet?

I haven's payed the deposit yet but I got an email to contact them when we do so that they can start registering us. Did you get that email?
