Really? Where did it say that?

sorry i just double checked..it says
Remember, deposits are refundable only until May 1. If your plans change, you must notify Undergraduate Admissions by that date.

sooooo i should say book it dan-o! we will know about depaul (hopefully) by then but at least you will have your spot saved...at least that is what i did : )

I called Loyola and spoke with someone from admissions. The lady I spoke with told me that the deposit is refundable until July on a case by case basis. She also said that they ABSN program was close to getting full and advised me to pay the deposit to save my spot and if my plans change then I would be able to get a refund. SO I panicked and submitted my deposit online. I noticed that on the website it says that it is refundable until May 1st, so I figured I was fine if my plans changed. However, I looked over the intent to enroll form that came with my acceptance letter and it said that the deposit is nonrefundable. Ugh. I don't know what to believe now so I just emailed Natalie (should have just called her to begin with), hopefully she can set things straight!

yea i know- it's confusing- and i did read somewhere that it was refundable up until the first day of classes too. by may 1st makes more sense though since that is their deadline. i am also confused by how many people are admitted (i have seen 60, 65, and 95 admitted) as well as their pass rate (they say 100% but the report for 2011 says 81%!) i think that they just have so many websites/flyers that there is no way to update them all as info changes. i have also questioned their flyer which says for the absn program they offer "direct entry to the msn program" on page 2 here:http://www.luc.edu/undergrad/media/prospectivestudents/pdf/academics/ABSN_2.pdf

but when i emailed the graduate office she said that is NOT true- you have to apply just like everyone else and i think they have a 2000 experience requirement, which again confuses me because that is not what this flyer says : (

not liking the inconsistancies so far : (

It is confusing, especially because I have come across some old info that's still on the net, but totally out of date. About the graduate courses...you have a chance to take 2 grad courses while you're still in the ABSN program, so it's sort of like direct entry, but I think you have to get licensed before starting the rest of the grad program. Also...the 2000 hours is just necessary before the clinical portion at the end, so it should be pretty easy to accumulate those hours during the didactic portion of the program.

Hey Renee,

Yea, I am not liking these inconsistencies either. I feel like calling and asking about the pass rate and all that but I don't know...I'm assuming the info on the website is outdated and the info on IL Center for Nursing website regarding pass rates is accurate. http://www.nursing.illinois.gov/PDF/IlApNursingEdProgPassRates01292010.PDF

However, I have not seen any pass rates for Loyola at 97% (that is what the Loyola website says their OVERALL pass rate is) in the ICN website for any of the past years. I wonder where they got this number from?? I also thought that they did offer direct entry to the msn programs. Hmm...

Direct entry- they just said even absn students have to apply like everyone else- not preferential treatment which is sorta what I was hoping for- that maybe I would get extra points or something : )2000 clinical hours would take a year full time- is that just needed before completing the msn program? I'm still sooo confused by that.

From what I can tell, the MSN is meant to be done part-time while you work. It's mostly online and the clinical part is at the end (last couple of semesters?). So, lets say the non-clinical part takes a year or two to complete, you'll have plenty of time to accumulate the hours of experience by the time you begin your clinical rotations. However....I am by no means an expert on this info, so I might be mistaken. :) Been trying to find some threads about it, but haven't so far.

Ah ok...I think I understand that better now. The way it's written though it looked like that 2000 hours was a prerequisite to apply. Maybe I just read this wrong... Thanks : )

When I first read it (actually the first few times I read it), I thought it meant that, too, so I wrote it off as a possibility. But since I have been obsessively dissecting every possible FNP program out there, I figured out that it wasn't a pre-req for acceptance. It isn't clearly written.

I want to get my fnp too! Yay! So happy to meet a future colleague! : )I would love that fnp emergency or cardio one. How about you?

Here's another strange question but does anyone know if loyola hires their new nursing grads like ressurection says they do?
