I'm starting this thread, because I couldn't find one for this year's application process for Lower Columbia (LCC)'s LPN-RN program. Please share any helpful information! What are you using to study for the TEAS and Kaplan exams?
On 6/25/2021 at 7:21 PM, Linda Linda said:Hi Ashley, I applied for the RN-LPN online program this April. I passed the TEAS and Kaplan yesterday (87% for the TEAS and 83% for the Kaplan, putting me in the 96th percentile for the TEAS and 95th percentile for the Kaplan). Right now, I'm waiting for the official acceptance notification, at least I'm hoping I scored high enough to get in.
As far as studying for the tests, I got the Mometrix book for the TEAS as well as some other study guides. They were OK, but I finally signed up with study.com and did their TEAS prep course, and also looked up videos on Youtube for A&P, Chemistry and math. I also found a really great condensed TEAS study guide on etsy that was AMAZING and helped me absorb all the information.
For the Kaplan, I also went to study.com and reviewed their NCLEX PN course. I found the Kaplan test pretty easy, even though I only got an 83%. My internet crashed during the test and totally rattled me. Pretty sure that's why I scored lower than I should have.
Hello, for the Kaplan Transitions exam, do you recommend any NCLEX PN study guide?
someone mentioned to me that the Transitions exam was more geared toward nursing delegating knowledge. Did you find this to be accurate?
thank you
Thank you! I just hope they are high enough!
I just used the provided question banks from the Kaplan website. After you register, log in and go to Access Resources and then click where it says you can create your own quizzes. I just created 10 question quizzes and studied the rationales.
Thank you, and good luck!
Oh, and it was a mix, but yes, a lot of those types of questions. I had zero calculations and one pharmacology question. Otherwise, priority, delegation, and nursing rules/laws.
I scored so low on my TEAS (both attempts I scored exactly 78%). I am beating myself up about it and almost makes me not want to try for the Kaplan because I think I won't be accepted. When I logged into access resources, I thought I only saw RN study material. I'll have to take a look again. Thanks!
I think you should still go for it you never know what the competition looks like. I read somewhere that scores in the upper 70s/low 80s were accepted!
I inquired about why it provided RN study material and was assured it was the correct material to study for the test. It is confusing because it says to study NCLEX-PN materials, but really it’s RN. It’s not much different than the PN but some of the delegation questions assume you are the RN delegating to an LPN. Otherwise, use those questions!
Hello! I graduate from the program Aug 25! If anyone has any questions feel free to post I will respond the best I can.
Our cohort started w 74 for the lpn to RN e learning and we just had our skills weeks at about 60 students. I believe back when we got accepted the lowest scores they were accepting were in the 150s! You ladies will be getting in no problem w your scores! And yes you just add them up and that's how they determine they just rank and go down the list w how many they are able to accept! I got a 78 on my TEAS and a 86 on my Kaplan and got in no problem! Good luck!
You are so kind, thank you so much! That definitely makes me feel so much better. The site says they accept around 45, so 74 is a lot more opportunity than I imagined!
I work 2-3 12-hour shifts a week, so I’m hoping this program will allow me to keep working, at least until the last quarter.
Thanks again and congratulations on your upcoming graduation!
That was the application cycle I initially wanted to apply for but we lost our housing situation and just now starting to get back on our feet! Do you think the Kaplan was "easier" than the TEAS? Do you know what area of study it emphasized more on? (Meds, delegation, nursing laws)
And how were your clinicals? Where did you go and did you enjoy it ?
Sorry so many questions.
