After high school, I enrolled at my local community college as undeclared. I didn't care for the courses I was taking resulting in 3 C's and 1 D. Now I've talked to my counselor about pursuing nursing. If I aced all my pre-reqs that would raise my GPA to a 3.3, at most. I live in southern california where a 3.7 is considered competitive. Most ADN programs require a minimum 3.0 GPA. I'm just worried that because I'll barely meet the requirements I won't be accepted into any nursing programs. If anyone has been in this position or want to advice other paths, I would really appreciate any feedback!

Are your schools looking at your cumulative GPA or your prerequisite GPA? In my state, the community colleges only care about your grades in your prerequisites. You still need at least a 3.7 here, but they don't care about things like history. I would look into that and then retake prerequisites if you are still falling short of a 3.7!

They look at both cumulative & prereq GPA. I sadly can't retake the classes I received a C since it's considered passing.

That is interesting that you can't retake it since you passed! Are you allowed to take it at a different college? Other than that, there isn't a lot to do. Most points come from GPA, so even with all of the extra points for other things you might not be competitive.

California community colleges do not allow retake of courses in which at least a C was received. One may petition for retake if they provide a reason.
