Hello, anyone know if it is true that many nurses lose their license after becoming crna? I know it is very stressful field and can be risky, but I dont know about the part of losing license! ?

Not true!

Well first you have to understand that the credential CRNA is different than a license. You are granted the credential CRNA when you pass the certification examination. You recertify as a CRNA every 2 years by accruing 40 CEs and affirming that you substanially involved in the provision of anesthesia-through clinical practice, administration, or education. On a state level you may be required to maintain licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse or maintain speciality certification- it depends on the state. You are subject to any state laws regarding practice or regarding maintain your RN licensure- losing your license as an RN means you can not practice as a CRNA. The bylaws of the AANA list reasons why certification or recertification may be revoked but individual states control their systems for granting or revoking any state licensure or certification. Yes there are cases of revocation but they are not common. Most CRNAs are aware of the value of the credential and will not take actions that endanger their livelyhood!
