Hello all, is anybody applying to Los Medanos CC for fall 2011. I just sent in my application with my fingers crossed:up:
FYI: For those of you applying to Merritt...
Be forewarned that this school has a crapy RN program! I spent one semester there in the program and transfered out because it is insane. Everyday you are threatened with being kicked out of the program. Our class started with 80 people for Fall 2010 and they are down to 23 now! The teachers are rude, getto, and obnoxious. They will beat you down so bad that you will loose all your confidence in yourself. You will go from an A student to barely passing and get reamed everytime you walk into the classroom that you need to "step it up".
When someone is dismissed from the program they have you stand up in class have everyone look at you and tell you to get the out that your career of becoming a nurse is over!
Plus, Merritt's accrediation is on Probation and in jepordary of losing their RN program (they just lost the LVN program this year.)
Merritt is one of the easiest schools to get into, but you really have to have a tough skin, keep your mouth shut and study your butt off. The first test in Fundamentals is over the first 300 pages of the book with 150 questions and an hour to take the test. Fail the test, you are out! No questions asked!
Go to the search box and type in Merritt College and a whole thread will come up telling you what I just stated and more...
I have a friend who was on the waiting list for LMC and was in the RN program at Merritt, when her name came up she had no problem transfering over, but decided to do the whole program from the begining at LMC because of the teaching style at Merritt. She said that LMC is an awesome school and doing very well there as well as getting better grades. She also said that there was a lot of stuff that Merritt did not teach that she is learning at LMC.
Another friend of mine graduated from Merritt's RN program last year and still trying to find a job. Every time they see where she got her degree from, they never call her back for an interview. They just look at her strangely and say "we will call you" She says that she really does not feel prepared to work in the field anyway and looking to persue her BSN now.

Same to you:D It's good to have this outlet to wait with other students. It is something comforting about it:redpinkhe
