Los Angeles Valley college- Winter/Spring 2020

Published

Hi everyone! I applied for Los Angeles valley college! I am waiting until the lottery to start. Has anyone else applied ? Let's keep each other in touch, also good luck everyone!!

I called and they said we have to get called or emailed if we do get accepted. They did not give me additional information.

they didn't give you a timeframe?

They didn’t mention anything about the alternative list? Usually it should take about a week until the lottery is over. I just don’t like waiting.

Even though I didn’t get in GCC it still nice that they email saying we didn’t get in at least you know where you stand. LAVC is confusing.

I hope they call soon! I am crossing my fingers as well!! but if I don't get in I am considering about west coast. Has anyone has consider about west coast ??

Hello all - I am also waiting response from LAVC for spring 2020. I called multiple x’s last week (maybe overdoing it, maybe not) and was told they were still in the process of alerting both the accepted and the not “most likely by email”.
I’ve been more or less rejected from all schools (COC, LACC, GCC, Moorpark, LACONAH, etc.) despite having decent grades and TEAS score.
I suppose I write this more so to connect with others in similar situations, bounce ideas off one another.
Anyone getting denied left and right (like me), don’t get discouraged. With determination, it’s a matter of WHEN we get accepted, not IF.

girl! Yes! First time applying. Only valley and harbor are left. It’s been super hard receiving the no’s. I’m 32 and thought of having to retake TEAs and reapplying really brought me down. I considered west coast but man is it expensive and I don’t want to get private loans. Thought about changing majors lol. Thought about everything and at the end realizes that nursing is my passion and I’ll wait as long as it takes. Thinking of taking a CNA course for points and also to be somehow in the field.

I also felt discouraged from applying and getting rejected my first time, wanted to just take out a loan and get started but I opted out of making such a rash decision haha. I want to give the CC system another shot before I get a loan. I’ve been a CNA for some years now and am appreciative of my experience, but i can’t say that it helps a whole lot while applying to nursing schools. Maybe one school out of about 8 ask healthcare experience. Working as a CNA in most places is tough and won’t likely give you too big of an advantage getting into school. I know, it’s frustrating but we got this. ?

Ya i went to go get the info at west coast and when they mentioned private loans and how it may not be enough and may still need to make monthly payments I threw my hands up in the air lol. The only reason I’m planning to do CNA while I wait is because I do uber full time and if I have to wait another semester and do uber I will loose my mind! Lol

This is my first time applying and also got rejected from all schools that have sent out acceptances. I love the positivity here. I applied for an EMT course while i wait to reapply. Our time will come ?

Emt course, where at? I’m still thinking which course to take. All I need is I gotta get into something while waiting lol. I didn’t take classes this semester because I’m all done and I’ve been reading like 5 books a month just to keep brain entertained. I’m going crazy with boredom already!! Lol

The EMT course is at LAVC. I was just searching for other programs. I start in the spring.

Has anyone heard anything yet?
